Weekly Challenge 152: Devotion

Easter is coming, the perfect time to capture devotion with your camera. Do you dare?

Every week I will offer you a new challenge, it is a topic that you will have to capture in a photo and upload it to the Facebook page of the blog by putting in the description the keyword that I will indicate for each topic. The themes will be varied, from portraits to macro photographs, landscapes, black and white photographs or babies. The topics will be offered on Fridays, so you have the whole weekend to work on them. You’ll have one week to upload your photo (one photo per participant), until Thursday of the following week. On Thursday I will update the article with the photo that most captivated me and on Friday I propose a new theme so that you have all weekend to capture your images, so?

  • According to the SAR.
  • Devotion is religious love.

Good picture

We returned from vacation with charged batteries. Here is a sampling of the wonderful devotional demonstrations we have received. What do you have or to whom do you have devotion?

Among the images this week, I have “Mirada de fe”, by Gerardo Martín Fernández. An image that expresses devotion and is also very attractive. The chromatic combination seems harmonious and pleasant to me, it is well focused and the composition, in addition to being correct, is really interesting because although the center of interest is this gaze that is directed towards the camera, placed in the same room. ‘one of the points of interest of the rule of three thirds, and photography could only have its interest with that, it turns out that it goes further. And that’s what I like the most about this snapshot. For me, the feeling of devotion is really in the figure breaking the beat of the hands on the shoulder and the caps pierced by the eyes, the one that gives you a second reading. The person carrying the image behind the supposed point of interest is face down. Pulls back, making it even more difficult to carry the weight with garments that are far from the smoothness of silk. This woman (as I suspect she is) for me is the one who really represents the devotion in this photo, the true center of interest and who gives the photograph its value, since it is she who “carries the weight of the image”, in every sense? Congratulations Gerardo!
