Weekly Challenge 109: Black and White Landscape

Surely when a landscape comes to mind, you will be harassed by the colors, the green of the meadows, the blue of the sea or the fiery clouds of a spectacular sunset. Today we challenge you to break this spear and think and capture the. and white landscapes.

Every week I will propose a new challenge, it is a topic that you will have to capture in photo and upload it to the Facebook page of the blog by putting in the description the keyword that I will indicate for each topic. Topics range from portraits to macrophotography, landscapes, black and white photography, or babies. The themes will be offered on Saturday, so you have the whole weekend to work. You’ll have one week to upload your photo (one photo per participant), until Friday of the following week. Friday or Saturday I will update the article with the photo that most captivated me and propose a new theme, and so on?

  • It may be a challenge for you.
  • But for that it’s the challenges.
  • Challenging yourself and realizing new things.
  • Otherwise.
  • If you just capture the same thing or always use the same techniques.
  • You may end up getting bored of this wonderful.
  • Hobby and that’s the last thing we want to happen.

In our post How to capture beautiful landscapes, you’ll find a specific article about the black-and-white landscape, and the Full Black and White Photography Guide is also available, although on the blog you also have tips for improving black and white. Photography and 11 simple tips for photographing stunning landscapes to help you. It won’t be for lack of information, will it?

My advice is to take good care of the composition, not to be left alone with the midtones of the grayscale, and not to give importance to the clear skies. A minimalist landscape, with textures, long exposure, or with a sky full of clouds can be perfect candidates to capture them in black and white, are you looking for it?

As usual, to participate in this week’s challenge, take your photo to the Facebook wall of the photographer’s blog: In the photo description, please mention the keyword?Black and white landscape challenge? Followed by a title of your choice.

For those who are not from Facebook, I have enabled the participation of new social networks.

Good picture

This week’s challenge served to confirm that landscapes don’t have to be color, we have a good example here:

The photo highlighted this week is by Berto Ribas, “Embarcadero en Cala d’Hort”. This photograph is a good example of how you can break the rules of photography while getting a great result. He left the horizon line right in the middle, defying the famous law of the horizon. But in this case, the sea and the sky are of great interest. The author made a magnificent composition by placing the line in the center because he managed to increase the depth of the image. The clouds in the sky are very attractive and do not damage the sea due to the elements that it has included in the frame. The rocks and the pier are a resource that has been used very well to guide our gaze. It also achieved a nice silky effect for the sea with a long, well-kept exposure. I love the gentle contrast that highlights the nostalgic soul of this image, the nostalgia of a time of splendor by this now abandoned pier, at the mercy of pirates, dream thieves and photography enthusiasts. Berto, congratulations on this fantastic image!
