The usual 10 maximum errors in photography (avoids moment error at all costs)

You return with great enthusiasm from your last trip, wanting to share with your family and friends everything you saw, that impressed you and that you captured on that little piece of plastic called a memory card. You show them these photos and you realize that they are so bored that after twenty photos they no longer try to hide them. You try to share them on social networks and spend hours glued to the screen waiting for many “likes”, but you are disappointed. What’s going on? If the place was wonderful, you ask? Has this happened to you? If not, you are a skilled travel photographer and you don’t need this article, or you know you have such a wonderful family and such good friends who are patient and give you the side of taste. In that case, this post is also for you, they deserve a reward, don’t you think? And that’s it, and I mean ALL of us, we’ve always made the same mistakes when photographing our travels. And, as we know, you learn a lot from your mistakes. Do you want to know what these mistakes are and avoid them on your next trip? That is why I invite you to continue reading.

Although in many articles we talk about how to complete the equipment, variety of lenses, accessories and so on, it is very important to carry light luggage when traveling, the quality of the images is important, but the essence of the place you are going is much more important, if you have to drag a suitcase only for photographic equipment, you will be more concerned with changing lenses and adjusting settings than capturing the magic of the place , it is better to wear a standard lens, with which you feel comfortable and another of your favorites, depending on the type of photography you like or what you can find in the country (or city) where you travel. With basic equipment, you’ll be able to move better and go unnoticed.

  • This is one of the most typical.
  • We are obsessed with photographing this monument or landscape that appears in all magazines.
  • Or that we have seen so many times on television or on the Internet.
  • But eye.
  • Surely a super professional photographer (or hundreds) has arrived before and we do not go.
  • To bring something new.
  • Instead of doing yourself with a bunch of typical postcards.
  • Buy them and dedicate yourself to embossing the life of this place and the soul of its inhabitants.
  • And if you want an image of the typical monument.
  • Try looking for another angle or perspective.

And I’m not talking about flight schedules, accommodation, etc. ? I mean plan the places of interest you want to visit, what they offer, what would you like to photograph, how others have photographed it before you, what are the best times of the day to do it (in light, by agglomeration, by opening hours?). Check if you can or can’t take photos inside, if you can use the flash? We have all these details at your fingertips with this powerful tool called the Internet, are you going to waste it?

If you stay throughout the tourist center, lose the essence of the place, the facades will be full of trademarks or restaurants of clowns or burger kings, there will be an agglomeration of tourists and the only places you will find will be the ones that will be dedicated to serving the traveler. Wander until you get lost (it’s a saying, don’t forget the map!?). Look for the most charming corners, the people who live there, the typical shops, anyway, and as we said, the essence.

Each place may have its magic moment depending on the incidence of light, but there are “rules” that work for everyone.

The best hours of light for photography are at sunrise and sunset, this is a golden rule not to be forgotten. Look at the images below, you will find many photos like the first, but not as many as the other two. Don’t you find the sunset images more attractive with this golden light falling on the majestic building?

Another problem to consider regarding light is that if we want to take night photos of an interesting place and do not want the sky to be completely dark, we have an hour after sunset to capture an attractive sky, hence the importance of planning and knowing the hours of the sun ?.

Here I remind you, so that you keep them very present and do not make basic mistakes, basic rules of composition. Always keep horizons and lines straight, unless you do so intentionally and in control.

If you’re going to photograph many places, unless you have a privileged mind, it’s very easy for you to forget the names or certain details that as much as you remember, they will surely evaporate from your memory in a few days, and when someone tells you “How cute!Where is he?” you may not know what to answer and end up renaming it to avoid problems (arom, an ejem).

Maybe shyness can, but if you interact with them, you can also learn more about the place, if you want to represent them, they will lend themselves more easily and you can avoid the strange problem. Not everyone likes to be photographed or, depending on the culture, they may even be very offended. You know how to smile and make friends! Photography is not the only purpose of a trip. (This will help you learn some phrases in your language, if it’s different from yours). )One tip, portraits in which a single face appears can be very appealing, but if you photograph something else about the environment, it will add more information to the image and tell you more about where it’s been.

And by the extremes, I mean shooting a lot and shooting little, one thing is as bad as the other. Because? If we always say shoot a lot!, what is the advantage of digital photography ?, but when you go on a trip, if you don’t look away from the viewer, you may miss a lot of things, details, expressions, attitudes, and you can even scare the locals. Walk, look and have the camera handy to photograph, but like I said, don’t go too far and don’t cut yourself taking pictures, you’ll have time to delete!?

If you show them the thousands of pictures you took of your people, can they stop talking to you?; D (well, maybe I overreacted a little bit), but you certainly won’t appreciate the fantastic images you’ve made on your wonderful journey. Make a good choice, stay with the ones that have the most impact, talk about the place and count Keep others on your hard drive if you regret deleting them, but don’t bother them with dozens of repeated and unreat interesting photos.

If you’re thinking of going on a trip, look for the notebook to plan and take notes on the spot, and remember that you learn from your mistakes and that the way to improve and learn more is by training Good trip!

If you found these humble ideas interesting, share them with your friends so they don’t bore you when they show you photos of their getaways.
