Want to know what my new favorite is with Nikon SLR cameras?Well, definitely the new model of this wonder: the Nikon D3400 :), the evolution of my great first love?
I have a group of my favorite SLR cameras, which are the ones I usually recommend, but if you ask me a single almost “absolute” recommendation for a beginner photographer in the SLR world, I will answer “Nikon D3300”, a camera whose functions and features have only evolved over time, and whose price, paradoxical and fortunately, has only decreased?
- I opened my eyes to photography with a Nikon D60.
- A very basic camera.
- Without flourishes or flourishes.
- I didn’t have LiveView.
- With it you couldn’t see what you were framing on the screen.
- Watch live and photograph.
- You had to put your eye on the viewfinder.
- I had no more than 10 megapixels.
- 3 focus points and additional features like Wi-Fi.
- Let’s not even talk.
- Still.
- I speak to you a long time ago.
- With what I offered.
- It was already an excellent camera.
- Which was worth the 750 euros that it cost at that time.
- I started my journey in the SLR world with it.
- And although my needs have evolved and I have ended up switching to more professional cameras.
- To this day.
- I not only keep my D60 with great affection.
- But I also use it regularly.
- Its small size and low weight make it very easy to handle and transport.
Over time, the Nikon D60 was replaced by the Nikon D3000, the same camera but with a changed name and advanced functions, after a few years, it changes its name and is renamed D3100, and again, the change brings important additions in After at a time, it took another leap forward, changing its name to D3200, until today landing in what we know as D3300.
As I said, every time this camera changed its name, Nikon expanded its functionality, making it more contemporary, more useful and adding extras.
When I look at the features of the current Nikon D3300 compared to my D60, the evolution has been excellent:
And so I was able to continue with each of the camera functions, ISO (best night photos), AF points (best blur), weight, sensor, wifi connectivity, mobile phone docking, etc.
In short, if the Nikon D60 was a great camera, the D3300 is a large camera multiplied by 10.
When buying a camera or recommending one to someone, I usually avoid the “last monsters” on the market. Normally, when manufacturers launch a new model to market, they usually place it at a relatively high price, leaving previous models immediately at a much more affordable price. As there is little difference in functionality between one model and the next, my recommendation is always to buy the previous model immediately.
Applying this rule, the Nikon D3200, which is the immediate ancestor of the D3300, should be my main recommendation, so it was for a long time, until the price of the Nikon D3300 began to fall. As I write these lines, on Amazon, my favorite store, the Nikon D3200 costs (price not available at this time) while the D3300 (high-end model) is hovering around (price not available at this time) right now (both with lens included). The difference between the two models makes the D3300 my most recommended camera right now. The difference in performance far compensates for this slight price difference. Also, when I compare again the difference in performance between my old D60 and the current D3300 as well as the price that cost me the first (750 Euros) compared to the current price of the D3300 (price not available at the moment) does the laughter come to me?
Photos are never the product of a camera, but of the photographer behind it. However, it is reassuring to know that the camera you have chosen, used correctly, is capable of impressive photographic results. This is the case with the Nikon D3300, here is a small selection of photographs taken with this camera, mainly by amateurs.
If you like this camera, remember that you have the Nikon D3200 by (price not available at the moment) about or, for a slight difference, the high-end model the D3300, if you ask me my recommendation now, I would recommend the D3300, for me it is the best SLR camera for the beginner and amateur photographer right now.
