Before Sony announced its new camera in April, rumors made headlines about its existence and possible features. Now that we know what the mirrorless Sony a9 really is, are the rumors maintained?
A Sony website was one of the first to break the silence on the Mirrorless Sony A9 camera, even before it was officially marketed. Others said it would be a continuation of the Sony alpha A7 line, but not quite, see below some of the rumors that have been denied or confirmed by the manufacturer:
- Now.
- In May.
- We are already convinced that the name of the new DSLR is ‘Sony a9 mirroless’.
- Although this seems obvious now.
- The name of the new mirrorless camera has already given much to say.
- Since since 2015 there were rumors about Sony A8.
- A9 and A99.
- We simply did not know what name the camera would receive.
Due to the investments that XQD memory cards had from their manufacturers, everything indicated that this would be the memory model accepted by the new camera, but this did not happen, the Sony a9 mirroless has a full frame sensor with a capture of up to 20 frames per second and, although XQD cards have advanced, it is not yet respected by professional photographers , but by videographers and producers, for this reason, the SDHC card model remained at Sony a9 mirroless.
Another important point is profitability. SD cards are now available for cameras with playback and transmission speeds (Mb/s) as high as XQD models and at similar prices. Professional and amateur photographers are unlikely to need speeds greater than 120 mb/s, 90 are already recommended for 4K Recordings (although the use of higher speed is more comfortable and faster).
According to another website, “Sony a9 without mirror may have limited RAW photo capture” because capturing these files is very cumbersome. Sony denied the site and reported that the number of files for storing multiple cameras with RAW photography is close to 241 compressed files or 362 JPEG at a time.
