A hundred kilometers off the coast of the Colombian peninsula is an island, this small and friendly island, full of rhythms and colors, was influenced by Spain and England for many years until it became the property of Colombia. names because of European colonization, still mention it with great pride. The languages they all speak are: Creole, Spanish and English.
The inhabitants of the island live long and quietly in their centuries-old houses, many of which are in an incredible state of conservation, are religious (Protestant and Catholic) and attend Mass every week with their best galas, when they are not. At church or at work, they like to see the island move from the balcony of their home, while their children run freely and enjoy the lush beaches that we only have access to during the best holidays.
- The atmosphere of the inhabitants of this small territory surrounded by crystal clear waters.
- Quickly captivated me and aroused my interest.
- I decided to record everything I saw and felt.
- But not only wanted a series of ‘street photography’ as I usually do.
- Do when I travel.
- I wanted something more enemy.
- I wanted to come into their house.
- That’s when I asked them politely or inadvertently to come in.
- Photograph them and listen to their stories.
- Look at me with a smile on their faces and say.
- “Come in!” They told me about their families.
- The origin of their homes and even the pirates who once lived on the island.
I only stayed 4 days on the island, it was amazing days, I lived a little the reality of each of them, I lived the customs, gastronomy and feeling of tranquility that only one island can provide.
Welcome to the island of San Andrés!
