Photoretum2: Portrait

After an impressive reception by Fotoreto1, we continue with this new section full of illusion.

If you are a regular at the BoF, you know that we have always encouraged you to practice photography, either with weekly challenges or with weekly inspiration. What you are reading right now Fotoreto is the evolution of this tradition towards a new format, typical of the time.

  • The concept of Fotoreto is very simple: every Friday I will propose a new video photo theme.
  • Sometimes I will show you an example of a photo to inspire you.
  • Other times I will only give you a clue or a tip that can be applied when making the Photoretum.

Each time, you will have 7 days to participate in the Photoretum of the week in question, until the following Thursday, once you have taken your photo, upload it to your favorite social network (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or Flickr) without forgetting the hashtag or tag corresponding to the Fotoretum in question. This week will be Photoreto2.

You can use a photo that you have archived, although ideally you will do it during the week of Fotoreto, since it is practical, if it is a file remember to download it again once the corresponding Photoretum is published.

Each week, we select a winning photo. The photo author will get his favorite book from our BdF eBook library.

I propose for this Photoreto2, after last week’s black-and-white classic, a proximity challenge. Because there’s something closer than a portrait, whether you always have it at hand, anytime, anywhere. There’s always someone you can practice with, and if you don’t, you have yourself. You can be your role model.

This week I hope you use your camera (or whatever you have with a lens) to work on your portrait. Take care of the composition, lighting, framing, background and all aspects surrounding a large portrait. Upload your photo to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or Flickr with the hashtag Fotoreto2. We’ll check the photos you upload.

I’m waiting for your picture

We are not worthy of joy! We hoped that the new Fotoretum would be as successful as our previous formats. But we didn’t expect this welcome, THANK YOU for real, one more week it has to be said. But not only thank you, but also congratulate on the wonderful work you send and the effort you make. Don’t be discouraged, it’s a matter of practice, not victory. Each Photoretum is a practice and every practice one more step.

And now, the winning photo, you made my task very difficult but there is a photo that I fell in love with and it is Pilar Martínez Montiel (@piloulou_fototo). Although he has no title, he speaks for himself.

Although the quality of the performance is obvious, I will only mention that I love light and how it generated a cinematic atmosphere, I emphasize the composition of the two faces, the diagonal drawn by the two faces creating tension and how the gaze moves from one side to the other to return to the girl, the clear protagonist and highlighted by the game of background blur.

It is a photograph that contains a story and above all many feelings; who shudders, captivates and cares at the same time. A portrait that shows how little can be shown so much. And how to look with eyes that don’t look at the camera. Congratulations Pilar.

I recommend you visit their gallery on Instagram as you will find more jewelry like this.

He’s not coming in anymore. Don’t miss the next Photoretum, you can take spectacular photos!
