Mobile Photography: Winner of the BdF Contest

Last month I organized a photography contest on the subject of mobile photography. To participate, you had to be a reader of our book “Mobile Photography in the Palm of Your Hand”. I had always worried that people would buy our books and publications and not put them into practice. The contest was my way of encouraging those who bought the book and pushing them to find their “mobile camera” and get involved in the practice of book concepts, thus turning the theory into expressive photographs.

I was fascinated by the response to the contest and the large number of readers who participated with his smartphone camera. Yes, this rudimentary, basic camera and everything you want. I consider all the readers who participated in the contest as “winners”, for the simple fact that I have read the book in its entirety, that I have kept certain concepts, and put them into practice, because I insist, there is nothing worse to do with a book and let the dust rise (practically in a folder on your computer).

  • That said.
  • We also had to declare a winner for the contest.
  • And although the selection was very tight.
  • I had to give up the fullness of the photo I show below.
  • Taken by Cris Sial:.

A photograph with a splendid composition, in which the horizontal lines weave a narrative that catches you and makes you walk through the scene gradually, from the bottom up. The greatness of this photo lies in the simplicity of its elements and its human dimension reinforced by the use of “black and white”. I think this is the perfect example that the camera doesn’t take a picture, it’s the photographer.

Next, a few words from the author of the photo: “This feeling of sopor of a summer nap, this abandonment and this peace, nothing more (and nothing less) than to take advantage of the elements around us, the light, the heat, the sea, without looking at the clock, the purring of the background TV that cradles you in your sound arms?I am very glad to have received the book that opened my eyes and mind to the amount of photographic (and narrative) possibilities that this gadget has. [??] Somehow it’s different from ‘going out for a photo shoot’, it’s as if you’re now more aware of the unique and beautiful moments in any situation. “

Congratulations to Cree and thank you for sharing with us this great human moment, in the coming days I will be in contact with the author of the photograph to send you your prize: access to the courses of the School of Photographer (Mastering SLR Photography Lightzoom, Complete Lightroom Course) as well as our complete library of books, composed of 10 photography titles.

If you want to know more about Cree, you can visit its website http://www. crissial. com/ and two galleries in Deviantart here and here.

I admit that it was not planned, but as I reviewed the photographs that had been sent to us as part of the contest, I wanted to save more and more a selection of “finalist” photographs that I also liked, so I leave these are photos taken as a whole by the BdF readers who bought the book. The selection shows the incredible level of our readers when it comes to managing your smartphone’s camera.

I would like, once again, to thank everyone who took the time to read the book and take advantage of the creative possibilities allowed by the camera of their mobile phone, from there we will continue to work on more articles and more content to inspire. you with more and better photographs.
