Photography and tourism are understood by L’avia as a Foucaultian device, since they are established in a similar way to a game or program to follow, being the network formed by the elements of this route that configures the device. as knowledge establishes, it is conditioned by them, generating tensions in their power relations and, therefore, constituting powers. Tourism and photography, in this case, work together, create speeches, form organizations and define modes of action related to travel and various learnings of photography, such as the desire to know and record places and thus take advantage of them as achievements.
The questions around photography touch the author’s artistic trajectory, the book brings many of my doubts as an artist and researcher, questions about what photography can be and how it happens and is lived by the amateur?”, says Lavia, who recently participated, in an artistic residence in China and is opening an exhibition with the work developed. “The work of the thesis is reflected in other productions, there is an important development in my artistic practice,” he says.
