Although I am a fan of digital life, I recognize that the world already has too many screens. Occasionally, it’s helpful to look away from the screen and appreciate something “real,” something tangible and tactile, like photos printed on photo paper. Taking advantage of the Christmas dates we are on, today I will tell you about what can be a unique and very original gift: the camera. A camera that fascinated me and may become a gift from Santa Claus to a loved one (shuuuut?!!).
I would like to highlight some peculiarities of the Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 that differentiate it from 90% of the cameras sold today.
- It doesn’t have a screen.
- It lacks electronic viewfinder (has optics).
- Has no menu.
- It lacks Wi-Fi.
- Lacks Bluetooth.
- A memory card slot is missing.
- Gps is missing.
- No connectivity to your favorite social networks.
- And no.
- No video recording.
- The Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 is primarily an analog camera.
- This allows you to photograph live as it used to be: the photo you take.
- The photo you get.
- You don’t have room to check the photo.
- You have a limited photo cartridge.
- As soon as it runs out.
- You run out of photos unless you have replacement cartridges.
Someone will say: why would I want a camera that limits my possibilities, having cameras today that allow you to take photos and delete without worrying about cartridges?
I’ll talk about it in a moment. I’m still with the features
This means that, unlike modern digital cameras, with which you first have to transfer the photo to the computer and then send it to print, either through an online web page or at a kiosk where the photos are printed, and unlike normal analog film cameras, the Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 is a camera that uses an instant reveal system. Carry a photo paper cartridge and as you take a photo it comes out of an already printed slit. At first, the photo is not visible on paper, but after a few moments, the photo begins to be seen.
I think with these two points we’re standing. Now let’s see what sets this camera apart from other analog instant cameras, because there’s going to be more than one like that, right?
If you look at the instant cameras (i. e. the ones that print the photo at the moment) that are currently on the market, you will mainly find two brands: Polaroid and Fujifilm.
The former, Polaroid, are digital cameras after all (I’m talking about the ones that occur today). They allow you to print the photo instantly, which is good, but this “digital” point doesn’t convince me at all. Fujifilm Instax is Fujifilm’s proposal for instant cameras, but unlike Polaroid, Fujifilms are completely analogous.
In addition to the “100% analog” point, the second point in favor of the Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 versus other brands and models is the fact that most current instant cameras (whether digital or analog, both Polaroid and Fujifilm) develop very small photographs. The first time I saw a photo of these I was perplexed: the photos are the size of stickers of these that children exchange, sure that many people do not care that the photo is so small, but I like that the photo is large or at least medium size, which can be seen even without having to get too close.
The Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 is one of the few instant cameras that prints photos at a reasonably large size, in my case this was the definitive feature with which I opted for this camera as a finalist.
It has drawbacks depending on what you compare it with and with what, as I always say, the perfect camera does not exist, there is the perfect camera for a certain person with certain tastes and for certain circumstances:
a) Being completely analog, the Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 has no screen, does not allow you to review photos, apply filters or take 100 photos exactly from the same scene so you can choose, delete the 99 and keep the finalist photo. It’s a camera that makes you photograph live as it was in the last century. We don’t need to go that far either. Only 20 years ago, it was the most common way to photograph: each photo used a piece of paper or a space in the film, which made you evaluate the photo before taking it. You made an effort to get the right photo of the same photo, because you knew you weren’t going to be able to see it on a small screen. , you won’t be able to select a 100 photo, or apply filters or stories. You’re shooting. Pum. Out.
I like that
b) The Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 is impressive, as I said before, there are two types of photo paper for instant cameras: the small, card type and the large one, this, assuming the role of the large ones, requires that the camera body itself be large. It isn’t either, but don’t try to compare it to a portable digital camera.
c) Must be supplied with photo paper. Do you want photos instantly revealed on large paper?Well, you’ll have to buy paper and put it on, depending on where you buy the paper and the size of the package you buy, it can cost you between 0. 60 and 1 euro per photo As we have become accustomed to digital photography where with a memory card we have thousands of photos, the idea of having to buy “a consumable” is usually scary at first.
As you can see, where this camera has drawbacks, I see some advantage, I can’t wait for the delivery man to finish it and see the illusion on the face of the person who will receive it as a gift on the day of the Three Wise Men. ?
Note: In my case, I bought the camera on Amazon (where I usually received the best price and best after-sales service) Do you currently have it for about 104. 00?If, like me, you’re considering giving it away, consider adding a photo paper package (it’s available here).
Oh, one last thing: what did you think of this article?, if you liked it, could you like me on Facebook or Twitter?Thank you?
