Christmas is coming and with it the holidays, family, friends, lights, decorations, gifts, cold (or not), joys (and a little sadness), illusions in the eyes of children, magical beings? You love them more or less, the truth is that these parties are an event, and every event is synonymous with what interests us most here: photography.
Because the truth is that rarely do you have so many photogenic subjects at your fingertips: lights (from the tree, in the street, candles, candles?), Portraits (of groups, individuals, children, pets?), Christmas accessories (Christmas trees , Santa hats, reindeer, kings, gifts?), Documentary photography (preparation of lunches and dinners, etc.) and a multitude of techniques to practice such as Bokeh Lightpainting?
- Almost nothing.
- Right? We’ll look at all the accessories you may need to get virtually every Holiday image you can imagine through these accessories.
Here are some add-ons that will make it easier for you to get wonderful Christmas images, of course if you don’t have them nothing happens, that nothing stops you in your photographic passion, most can be given a little imagination ;-).
It doesn’t matter if you have Evil, Bridge, SLR or even an advanced compact. The important thing is that you can control the exposure parameters; what we call the exposure triangle (ISO, aperture, shutter speed).By mastering these three parameters, you can do whatever you want in the photo.Unbelievable, isn’t it?
Since we take many photos indoors at this type of party, it is highly recommended to have an external flash to illuminate your portraits or Christmas scenes, if you have one with a rotating head, you can bounce the light on a clear surface, making it act in a diffuse way, which will allow you to illuminate your subject, avoiding this direct light and lasts as little photogenic as the flashes embedded in the camera.
Due to the same lighting conditions mentioned in the previous point, a tripod will be of great use to you when you have low light, as it will allow you to work at lower speeds without jitter or too much isO force (which would cause noise in the image of some levels). But this will not only help you get sharper images in difficult lighting situations, but it will also allow you to go out (for once) in family photos :-).
For indoor and normally night scenes, we need the brightest lens possible. For example, remember that an f/1.4 lens is brighter than an f/4 lens and that an f/4 lens is brighter than an f/5.6 lens.In words, the lower the aperture value, the brighter your lens. Also remember that fixed focal lengths are generally brighter than zoom focal lengths, so here’s our ideal selection (although if you don’t have it, don’t worry, work with what you have)
Don’t forget to activate your camera/lens stabilizer every time you don’t use the tripod, because in this case it’s counterproductive.
* The opening streetlights will also allow you to create a wonderful bokeh, also for outdoor practice, Christmas markets, etc.
However, don’t forget to pay attention to white balance or work on RAW to correct it during treatment.
The rounded shape of a Christmas ball can be a very original fisheye, so you can play photography what’s reflected in it, for example.
Create your own Christmas still lifes with the typical Christmas decoration of centerpieces, compose, recompose, look at details, composition of elements, textures, color?
If you like documentary photography better, don’t worry, there are millions of activities that you can represent as part of Christmas: the assembly of Christmas decorations, chefs in blatant criminality, the time to open gifts, toasts, etc.
We associate it with Christmas even though many of us do not enjoy its landscapes at the moment, but if you are one of those who have it close by, remember that snow can give a lot of itself (remember that it is very important to protect your equipment from the cold) .
We don’t tire of repeating how important it is to take care of the background, look at it when you’re going to take a photo, delete what you’re not interested in, move it, blur it, everything you think but do.don’t bother your main theme.
