As we know how difficult it is to find a suitable camera, the one that best suits you, the one that accompanies you on your adventures and that is your best friend to immortalize your memories and take out the artist inside you; blog, we try to simplify your work. Today we offer you the Canon 200D, also known in other latitudes as Rebel SL2. It is one of the lightest and most compact SLRs on the market, but without sacrificing image quality. It is very ergonomic and is available in three different colors, black, white and silver. If that convinces you, read on and I’ll introduce you in detail.
The Canon 200D is designed for those who are just getting started or want to switch from their smartphone or compact to an SLR camera to gain sensor function and size.
- Why is it ideal for a beginner level? Mainly because of its intuitive menu and the help guide it includes.
- They are small tutorials that guide you during photography and explain the effects that will have on the photograph the configuration changes you bring.
To contextualize it, you could say that there are three stages between initiation or low-end cameras, this would be in a second stage, it is the younger sister of the 800D, with which she shares several features (such as the processor and the Dual Pixel focus system), which gives her many points.
The screen is fully reclining, to shoot from any angle without having to contort and has several shortcut buttons. Includes a micro connection ideal for videos.
Selfie mode retouches and softens the image. It has a direct button for connectivity and is easy to use (if your trick is to make self-portraits and upload them immediately to social networks, this camera is ideal for you;)).
The most noteworthy thing is the good image quality it offers
The Canon 200D does not record 4k video, it stays in a decent Full HD, although the video in question has in its favor that it has microphone input, as I just commented.
Another drawback is that it does not have configurable buttons, which is not the best in terms of dynamic range and its focus system only includes 9 points, however, with very fast processing;).
But perhaps the biggest drawback is the price, which does not convince the target audience at all. Although it has already dropped a bit, there are still entry-level SLRs at a better price. If your budget isn’t enough for the Canon 200D, take a look at the Canon 1300D (see video test or review) or Nikon D3400 (revised here).
The body costs 557. 53 ?, although if you are interested in the lens kit, you have it for: (price not available at the moment)
We usually recommend that you purchase the camera separately, as you can choose the lens based on your needs. The one that comes in the kit, the disadvantage is that it is not very bright, although on the other hand it is versatile and for Getting started well, here we explain how to get the most out of it.
The other option is to buy it without a lens and get a 50mm one, like the king or the prince, if you don’t have the budget, it’s a personal matter;).
If aesthetics is important to you, you’re lucky, you have different colors, in black and classic silver. However, when you put a normal lens in black, the aesthetic theme will fade, but if you don’t mind or if the idea is to keep the lens of the kit, the truth is that these are very colorful models:
Here are some images that show the brand made by a Canon 200D
And here you can see more photos taken with this camera.
A very “practical” camera to start with as it offers very good quality despite its size and weight looks more like a compact one. With many opportunities to learn and give it sustainable use over time. We don’t recommend it too much if you have very large hands or are looking for a sturdy camera, but believe me, if it’s not something that’s already common in you, it may be that a large or heavy weight can lead you to inevitable laziness when transporting it with you.
If you have many doubts at the time of purchase, surely one of these items will help you clarify your ideas:
