Animal photography: how an animal with your own portrait ;)

Big or small, fast or slow, wild or domestic? Who has never photographed an animal? You’ve probably done it more than once and twice. Have you ever been unhappy with the result? Are you having trouble with your camera settings, but would like to take snapshots like the ones you see in magazines? Photography is not an easy subject, but it is very rewarding, so in today’s article I will give you some ideas and tips that will improve your photos and allow you to enjoy this initiative more.

Wildlife photography is a very broad subject, it is not the same to photograph a lion in the middle of the jungle than a fish in an aquarium or your animal resting in your living room. Each moment requires a different team and parameters, we will talk about the team first.

  • 1.
  • Si what you have planned is a photographic safari.
  • You will need to arm yourself with a good telephoto lens or superteleobjetive.
  • 70 to 200 mm for animals that you can approach a little closer to and a lens of 500 or 600 mm to make larger shots of wilder animals.
  • These little animals won’t make your job easier.
  • And of course you don’t even think about getting close.
  • A stabilizer will also be of great help.
  • You also need a good tripod.
  • Camouflage equipment.
  • Binoculars to locate the precious specimens and be patient.

2. You don’t have to go to the jungle to photograph a tiger or a giraffe, look for the closest zoo and take a telephoto lens and a 50mm f / 1. 4 or, failing that, f / 1. 8, we’ll talk about The King of Lenses and the Prince, for something Mario calls them that, right? You can get photos like these:

3. You may not need wild animals and want to photograph your animal more, well, in that case, a bright lens will suffice (again I recommend the 50mm f/1, 4 of / 1. 8). You can also be creative and use other lenses like fisheye for fun and interesting results.

4. If you want to get the most out of your macro, remember that insects and insects are also very interesting animals, they will also help you get closer to your pet and the smallest inhabitants of aquariums or terrariums.

This has been my humble weekly contribution. I hope these photos move something in you and make you want to use your camera to produce photos as impressive as you just saw them. Remember to put into practice everything you have learned and, as always, do not stop sharing blog content.

Thanks, as always.
