An astronaut as photographic support;)

Suppose I give you a full-frame SLR camera, one of the $ 2,000 or $ 3,000, or I give you $ 5,000 worth of accessories. Yes and what? How will this change your photographic results?

As photographers, it seems that we must always live with the feeling that something is missing, in my post last week I told them that I did not have to change cameras, I tried to convince them that their current camera was enough, but it is not. matter, you’re sure to leave me with the fact that you are missing a tripod, continuous light bulb, or gold reflector.

  • Today we’re going to see what constitutes a complete photographic team.
  • I say “complete”.
  • Although minimal equipment should be enough.
  • There are some amateur photographers who do wonders with extremely basic and limited equipment.
  • In today’s article.
  • We’ll review the equipment and accessories you need based on the type of photograph you’re taking.

Warning: If we are strict, I am sure that each of the accessories I will mention can be used very usefully, but understand me, today’s article is an article in which I try to encourage you to put aside the excuses, stop spending money on products and dedicate more effort to get good photos.

Camera: Applause can’t capture photos. A camera is absolutely necessary. Now, don’t get too obsessed with the make and model. Most current brands and models are good enough to take a more than decent photo. If you hear about full-size SLR cameras, forget it. Too expensive, they can be interesting for a professional photographer who makes a living taking pictures and requires very high performance, but if you like photography as a simple passion or hobby, don’t make it difficult with Full Frame. this article is worth it.

Quality Lens – When you buy your first SLR camera, it comes with a lens or two. This is surely the worst lens you’ve ever had, but I think it’s a necessary step in your learning and maturity as an amateur photographer. As you get to know your camera a little more, master the manual mode and develop new needs, it is time to make a new addition to your photographic equipment: a quality lens such as Macro, telephoto, wide angle, or the desired one. Rey de los Objectives will mark a before and after in your photographic learning. Investing my money in quality lenses has been one of the best decisions I have made in my career as a photographer, almost better than choosing a camera, but remember that you will not need it unless you have been using your camera for at least 6 months.

Tripod: Whether or not you’ll need tripod depending on the type of photography you usually take, whether you’re a fan of landscapes, sunsets, long exposures and other photographic genres that require camera stability, don’t waste time: you need a tripod urgently. You can try to hold your breath like I did at first (we all did in a moment), but by the time you put your camera on a good, sturdy, beautiful tripod, everything changes. Other types of photography (such as daylight portraits) do not require a tripod. Coverage of sporting events does not require a tripod. If you want to buy a tripod to go to parties, birthdays or concerts, save money, even if it would be useful to have a tripod in these situations, it is not convenient or comfortable to take pictures with the camera mounted on a tripod, with all the agitation of people, guests, audience, etc.

Remote shooting: exactly the same case as the previous paragraph

Polarizing filter: you need it especially to photograph landscapes and nature. This filter helps to slightly “darken” the sky, giving it a deep blue and contrasting with the clouds and the rest of the landscape. Unless you are particularly into landscape photography, I don’t see it as essential. Note: The polarizing filter also has another utility, to reduce glare from surfaces such as a car or a lake.

Neutral density filter: again another very good filter for those who like to photograph long exposure landscapes and daytimes, such as moving water, silky rivers, etc. This filter allows the photo not to be overexposed even if taken during the day. If you are going to photograph Objects, Macro, Kids, Animals, Sports, Stars, Butterflies? Can you explain why you want one?

Flash – Using flash is a bit overrated. It is usually one of the first accessories we think of when we buy our first SLR camera, but the situations where it becomes really necessary are very rare. There are, of course – I love taking portraits during the day using the flash as additional light (called fill flash). At night, and combined with a good diffuser screen, it can give exquisite results. But, except for some situations, its use is really very limited and its effect, quite often, is more negative than positive. Have you ever seen a night portrait photo, with flash, where the subject’s forehead was too bright and with a giant shadow behind the subject? Sometimes the flash brings worse side effects than the very remedy it is trying to provide. Think carefully before submitting your photographic happiness to the purchase of a flash.

Carrier backpack: Whatever type of photographer you are, are you ENTERING into a laptop backpack? You can’t get an idea of the importance of having a good backpack to carry your gear and what can influence the photos you take. Yes, yes, me. You should know that with a backpack you cannot take photos, but you can carry photographic equipment that depending on your comfort you will be better or worse willing to undertake your photographic sessions, with more or less enthusiasm.

Continuous light boxes, light reflectors, light cube, white portrait background and astronaut costume: why do you need them?Unless you’re a professional photographer or an advanced amateur who already borders on professionalism, worrying about getting such accessories won’t (at least not immediately) influence improving your mastery of photography. Photography. Many jars have a specific utility, for a specific type of user, such as magazine photographer, food photographer and hotel, etc. Wanting to make the most of waste is not synonymous with photographic quality.

Do you really need to wear an astronaut costume for a landscape, family or pet photo??
