A photo assignment that the SP shows the city through its inhabitants.

The translation of at least the smallest notion of heritage size such as that of an entire city is undoubtedly the way photography acts as an “interpreter”. Landscapes, culture and many other settings can, in fact, make us have more goods and feel closer and closer, closer to this place, even several kilometers away.

Faced with the role of photography with this importance and relevance to society and art, the professional Marcelo Ferreira Fernandes also took advantage of the anniversary period of the city of Aracatuba, located in the northern region of the state of Sao Paulo, to launch the project. ? Sons of Aracatuba ?. An initiative that, as the name suggests, has as its element of prominence precisely the history of the place told in images by those who live this reality on a daily basis.

  • Initially.
  • The images are shown in five different locations of the city (Aracatuba Shopping.
  • Praca Nova Araatuba.
  • Atende Fecil.
  • Quintal Cultural and Senac Araatuba).
  • However.
  • Marcelo’s intention and the organizer of the event.
  • Fran Mariano.
  • Is to direct all the images?through the city only to the lobby of the municipal library of Aracatuba.

The collaboration provided by the local population was something very celebrated by the photography professional, noting that it is not just the clicks of his camera, the play of lights and all the work on the images that this contribution was made:

“I started thinking about the ordinary people of the city and their relationship to their evolutionary process. What they thought and how they saw Aracatuba. I saw that people were proud to talk about these stories. Sometimes they hadn’t said it in years. and many facts were remembered at the time. They were glad to tell someone, because they often had no one to tell. Not to mention they were proud to participate in the project.

In addition to his concern to portray Aracatuba through the inhabitants, Marcelo Fernandes also spoke of the importance of bringing to the local culture the possibility of consuming works of a more authorly than commercial character:

“We can think of two ways, as a way of counting Aracatuba from people’s point of view. The other is to bring a little more photography to the city. Only commercial photos are consumed. Now this aspect of the presentation of this type of author photography work must be strengthened.

The play, which will have an official opening in the library lobby tomorrow at 7:30 p. m. (8) will be on display until 23 December, 8 a. m. 6 p. m. La is free.
