After the initial madness of buying your new camera, you’re bored, you’re running out of ideas, you’re starting to think the problem wasn’t the camera but you. Don’t worry, we all have moments of “Creative Depression”, these are days when we are not able to imagine a single photographic idea and realize it with a minimally decent result. But you know what. . ? These are passing moments, creativity is a gift that is given, it is true, but you can also exercise through observation, inspiration and reading, the more time you spend looking and studying the work of other photographers, the easier it will be for you to find inspiration.
In the meantime, it occurred to me to briefly share with you 5 ideas with highly creative content, the methodology I will follow in today’s article is a little different because I will not expose the photos openly but behind links that you have to reveal as you read each one. idea I don’t want the photo to be the first thing you see but you read the idea, you try to imagine it first, and then you can click on the sample photos that attached at the end of each idea ?
- Have you ever wondered how an insect sees our world?Seeing things from far down must be very different.
- We are used to seeing everything from our height as human beings as photographs taken from the ground often impress us.
- Whenever you like a landscape.
- If you try to place the camera on the ground and take the picture.
- You may have a pleasant surprise.
- Here’s an example.
Playing with depth of field usually gives very good results. It can be applied in different ways: focusing the subject and blurring the background, or focusing the subject itself on a very small part and leaving the rest of its body or face blurry. Does this technique work very well because it gives the feeling that things are much sharper in the photo than in real life?I attach here a very illustrative example. If you look at it, you’ll notice that your eyes are automatically directed to the center of the photo, as this is the only focus area, it’s a very low depth of field. Shooting from the lawn is another very interesting creative resource, it is to place the camera on the lawn or in certain weeds and photograph, which usually causes a very pleasant effect because the viewer perceives the feeling of being there, lying on the lawn or hiding behind the lawn. plants Here’s an example.
There are photo editing and editing programs with pre-prepared effects: you upload 2 photos and the program automatically inserts one photo into another in a fun way, but here I don’t mean that. Here I suggest you take a photo, physically print it and re-photograph it in a context similar to the one you originally took. Here’s an example.
Normally when we look at a photo, we know if the scene is horizontal or vertical, a wheat field is horizontal. A building, on the other hand, is clearly vertical, what I propose in this technique is to sow confusion in the viewer, photograph something horizontal so that it appears vertical or vice versa, it is a matter of composing and taking the photo from a perspective (or modifying the photo later) which confuses the viewer. Don’t worry, you won’t be fooling anyone, most of the time the viewer will notice and smile even while trying to guess how the scene originally looked. same smile that you are going to draw when you see this photo and this one?
As you can see, there are 5 simple and easy-to-achieve ideas, they don’t involve too much complexity or require next-generation photographic equipment, most of which can be applied even with a compact camera and even with a mobile. I hope they help you find the inspiration you need.
