13 (with tips) for your next photography project

Although the year officially begins on January 1, many of us feel it starts in September, with the school year. This is how we count the years per school year, this is what happens to the students, those who are engaged in teaching, the parents of school-age children and some little pifias like me who stayed in the head in their student days. . And all this, why am I telling you? Well, very simple, because when the summer passes or rather the holidays make us think of new projects, whether to quit smoking or not, to consider going to a gym and all that. sort of thing, it’s like New Year’s goals. But we’re on a photography blog, aren’t we? Well, that’s why I’m proposing a number of ideas for those of you considering a new photography project.

A few weeks ago I published an article on how to make your first photo project, another article I dedicated to you to tell you the mistakes I had made with mine, so that the same thing doesn’t happen to you. focus on the ideas to finish making it easier for you?

  • Its a classic.
  • And I think that the most complicated thing because it can be done too long and staying motivated is not always easy.
  • If you are one of those who throw in the towel to the minimum or get tired soon because they need news.
  • This may not be your best project.
  • Yes.
  • It is if you are consistent and you like big challenges.
  • Of course.
  • Although it requires perseverance.
  • It is a brutal exercise.
  • Every day you have to exercise the creative “muscle”.
  • Do you have time? Well go ahead!.

It’s a little softer and lighter than the previous one, it’s also long and requires consistency but you have a whole week to take the photo, it’s more relaxed, but it also exercises creativity and keeps you active, you can use it day by week so you don’t get carried away, even if you have space later.

An excellent exercise to learn to understand light, check its differences, observe its different nuances and see how it influences a scene. An interesting project and an excellent practical exercise. My advice is to look for a beautiful environment and at some point the sun rises or sets at some point in the frame, make a mark on the exact place where you place the tripod, look carefully (and mark) the height at which you are going to place it and observe the focal length. So the landscape will be exactly the same, it will only change the light. You will be surprised what this “alone” can achieve.

It’s a project that can be beautiful. It will also help you observe the light, as it changes not only during the day, but also between the different seasons. Including a tree in the frame or making it a protagonist can be a good idea, since it perfectly reflects the seasons, with its leaves, fruits, etc. You can see an example here or here. In the latter it didn’t go off from the exact same place, do you see the importance of marking where you’re shooting from??

It can be something complex (depending on your favorite painter) that if you work well and put a lot of passion into it will bring you great satisfaction, you can see as an example the work of Desiree Dolron that inspires her photographs for the Flemish painters of the 17th century. He mainly plays with lighting and retouching.

Another option is to remake classics of painting, as Annie Leibovitz did for Vogue, for example.

And the one who says painting also says movies, songs or novels What inspires you most besides photography?Well, is that what you can pursue, combine two of your passions?

Surely you have a favorite photographer (or some), someone you follow in particular, who really inspires you, well, the idea is to reinterpret his work, which is not the same as copying, let me explain. Analyze their photographs, what do you like about them, what attracts you the most, the lines, the light, the message ?, anything that inspires you, when you are clear, try to make your own photos working on this aspect. that appeals to you so much. These will be your photos, with your stamp but with the essence you love in this author.

While making a portrait may seem easy, it doesn’t really seem like that, the simplest thing here is that as a family you play with two initial advantages, physical proximity (if you live away from them you will surely see them at some point and if you don’t focus on those closest to you) and know them. A true portrait, which immediately captures the public’s attention, is one that captures beyond the face. Tell your audience what your family is like with images only.

Another project that may be interesting is the realization of a weather series, i. e. photograph the different weather phenomena: rain, wind, storm, fog, clouds, tornado, etc. In this article you can view different photographs taken at different weather times, so you can see the charm of each one. Of course, I recommend you protect your computer (don’t hide it?).

For the crazy, the romantic or the nocturnal (or all together) I bring you this idea. It’s about capturing the moon from different places. The moon, whether full or growing, alone in an image does not have as much charm as if framing it in an interesting place, in fact it can be very annoying, since the exercise is good, but if you want something else do not leave it alone; ).

Find different scenarios and let them hug you. Every month a different scenario, the months are decided by you, six, twelve, twenty-four ??Here are 13 tips for photographing the moon, if you’re attracted to this project, don’t miss them!

If you are a sports fan, this can be your project, select a series of sports, such as risk, ball or gymnastics, make sure they are similar so that the project has greater consistency and focuses on one aspect of the sport , which can be sacrifice, companionship, overtaking or any other interest or that attracts you the most to the sport in general or in particular.

Maybe it’s not sports and yet you love animals. Well, there’s another idea, ask all your family and friends to take a picture with their pets. Maybe you can prove that each animal ends up looking like its owner, or was it the other way around??

Do you know how that’s really changed in the last fifty or a hundred years?Find old photos of your city and recreate the same angle to reflect the passage of time. You can play to include the old image in the frame and create a forced image. perspective or simply recreate the shooting angle as accurately as possible and display your image next to the previous one.

Have you ever represented yourself beyond taking a selfie by holding hands with your mobile?Well, if you really like photography, you should try. Self-portrait is a great exercise and you’re always at your fingertips. a tripod (or you can get it), you may want to try this challenge, so you can also see how you change over the course of a year, how your mood can be reflected in your eyes or expression. and probably emotional exercise?

You can always choose the same frame or you can find different shapes and places to make your portrait, depending on what you are looking for with your project and what you want to play or create.

And if you don’t have a tripod and want to play with the reflexes, that’s another possibility.

I think you already have some ideas to start with, or maybe one of those thirteen suggested another one that appeals to you more?
